    I love my job.  I loved my previous jobs.  Aren't you rather cherry picking when you decide what people think by only showing any real interest in those posters you don't like? There is nothing in any of my posts to suggest that I do not love teaching.

     

    I must say on these topics I am in complete agreement with seren_dipity with regards to weebecka's strategies.

    The reason I (and I suspect seren, but don't want to speak for her) is/are cynical is the ideas are implausibly unworkable.

    When wb first starting posting all the 'I am' stuff, I suggested (twice I think) in threads that it was probably unwise for her to keep identifying herself as I was concerned that she might damage her professional reputation.   I am past caring now.

    And so are 99% of our fellow professionals on these forums (there's always a place as well to let off steam and share some banter/drivel), the vast majority of whom appear to be able to achieve this without antagonism, a patronising/condescending tone and also without the help of third party facilitators to make conservations richer and more coherent.
     

    Even when some of us don't (some people (ahem) getting annoyed with 'lefties' sometimes and getting a bit cross ;-) ) I'm quite able to seperate a good bunfight about politics from genuine requests for help or sensible discussion about a topic. 

    As far as I can see most of this facilitation involves saying something that amounts to "Very interesting. And what do others think ?" but taking three paragraphs over it.

    That's a thought-provoking point aut.   Does anyone else have a view on this?

    She could have stated her purpose without actually identifying herself "I'm here to see how teachers use forums for a presentation" kinda thing. Many people post information collecting, sometimes ask people to fill in surveys etc. without IDing themselves.

    Sad thing is, if she'd have done that she'd probably have got a lot of replies pointing her in various directions.

    But not many interesting stories. Labour and Tory voters disagree shock horror !!

    Are you on about the why am I here issue?

    I've told you again and again I'm a habitual and prolific contributor to discussion forums.  I enjoy it.  I learn from it.  I've got a wide range of skills now which I deliberately use to make conversations richer, more coherent and more effective in answering questions.

    I'm "on about" the fact that you are here collecting stories for your conference workshop. I'm on about the way you say you you were just about to discuss that every time someone disagrees with you. I'm on about the fact that you claim to have great communication skills but we see no evidence of them here...

    I do. I have considerable expertise which I shall tell you all about later. I had an amazing time last week sharing this expertse witha group of quite experienced teachers who understood me perfectly. I don't want to suggest that I'm a great big know it all though, so I'll just trust that I have said enough to facilitate an open and interesting discussion and encouarge others to share. These are all good points. Post 786 would benefit from further discussion.
