    Fabulous Smile

Florapost I have to confess that last time I chatted with Tony I was half cut and only semi knew who he was.

I started to talk to him about The Amidextrous Universe.  Oooops!

Can you tell me a bit more about who Tony is and what he is so I can more clearly discern him from Martin (who sadly passed away recently) in my mind?

I don't think that matters since what's going on in your mind is so far removed from reality.

And the examples start presenting themselves...

Smile In a state of deep synthesis rather than removed from.  There's a difference which you don't seem to understand yet.Smile

However if you'd like to describe aspects of your reality into which you feel I do not have sufficient insight then do please describe them.  I'm always interested.

Karvol, I accept that my experience of teaching super-privileged kids a super-expensive qualification in an environment with virtually no boundaries is limited.  Due to the way I taught and the classes I now teach I have more insight than most and am, as I said, genuinely interested to listen.  I'm not sure your contributions will take me more in the direction of reality though!

Right back to work weebecka.  Plenty to do today.

    Plenty to do today.

    Here is a list

    (i) Tap in google to your firefox

(ii) Search for 'General chat rooms'

(iii) Sign up to at least 3 as the traffic will be too slow for your 8 post a minute behaviour in at least one. Ensure the one you sign up to allows for 12 avatar changes per month

(iv) Anytime you feel like posting trash on this site, just copy and paste it intp your new found home and watch the response.

    (v) Return to your profile on TES and go to 'change password'

(vi) Close your eyes and get jiggy with your keyboard

(vii) Copy and paste it into the 'confirm new password' box, hit yes

(viii) Sit back, feeling good in the knowledge that you have allowed professionals to continue to share good information on maths and its teaching and knowing your career isnt as bad off as it could have been in a few months

I have a penned a letter to MMU and will copy you in when it is sent. As an educational organisation I would be hiding behind the sofa reading your contributions here

A little bit of me worried that my e-mail to the ATM was too strongly worded.  Glad to see Weebecka coming back to reguarly reaffirm that it was totally called for, and if anything very restrained.

Bombay Sapphire and betamale - do make sure that you robustly provide the evidence to back up your claims.  It would look a little unprofessional were you just to write disparaging letters which are apparently unfounded.

I shall be interested to see the evidence to which you will refer appear.  It's quite astonishing what can be done with this forum.

Right. Ironing done, 1 essay marked (intermixed with ukelele playing and gerbils c/o LO).

5 more essays and then I've got to try and work out how on earth to answer a very interesting question regarding final revisions for the Gattegno 100 anthology.

What's anyone else up to today?

I'm still interested to hear more about Tony florapost.  I have to say he took my confusing him with Martin Gardner in very good part.  Which of course anyone should be flattered by really (intellectually of course, perhaps not on age/appearance grounds).

The Ambidextrous Universe is a fabulous book by the way - it helped me understand Chris McManus's work on non-symmetry later and to solve a maths problem everyone else was struggling with in a unique way (described and explored colloboratively on Math, Math Education, Math Culture).

Thinking of Chris McManus reminds me, I must post my photo of the McWhirter twins over in pregnancy.  I set a puzzle for the mums there which might interest people from maths.

    http://community.tes.co.uk/forums/t/457466.aspx

I'm going to add some more mathematical clues soon.  If you don't want to spoil it for the mums you're welcome guess solutions here.

a state of deep synthesis? Smile congratulations. I can honestly say that's one of the best euphemisms I've ever heard! Truly amusing.

I'll describe some aspects of my reality that you don't seem to understand , as requested( hey it's Saturday, I'm having a lie in while Mr Cg does parental duties, I've got a bit of time on my hands).

in my reality it's unreasonable and unprofessional to name and shame hmi inspectors, and call into question their professional capabilities

In my reality it's advisible to do something for more than a couple of years and have a degree of success at it before you refer to yourself as an expert.

In my reality it's a good idea to be truthful on Internet forums, people have a habit of remembering ( and in some cases an annoying habit of archiving) what you say

In my reality "challenging" children don't respond well to being left alone inside a classroom while the teacher has a quiet chat with the one who is a bit tearful outside, in my reality that would probably lead to a full scale riot.

In my reality it's normal to invite the police into school in the morning because the local drug/ gun dealer is peed off with you for reporting him yet again to social services, and a police escort home for staff is not really our of the ordinary

In my reality, challenging is really just that, challenging. Not some borderline c grade group who are a bit lively

in my reality it's not ok to insult, patronise, spam and tell outrightblatant lies about people

I could go on but I've just been brought breakfast in bed. Will that do for now?

Either way Weebecka - if I was hypothetically refering to you, which I wasn't ( hypothetically ), the comment made no reference to anyone's teaching ability. I have my views on your teaching and you have your views on mine. No point going over something again which has been raked over far too often anyway.
